How do post offices work now?

17/04/2020

We are well aware that people are concerned with the latest developments and the way COVID-19 is influencing our typical lives. Every day we get huge amounts of questions regarding opening times for branches, about what is currently happening to parcel and letter workloads, and whether the post from abroad gets delivered. For your convenience we have now gathered together all the answers to your questions.

1. Russia shut down overseas flights, does that mean the post from abroad will not be delivered?

The flights ban is passenger ONLY. All postal flights continue operations as normal across almost all the destinations. Postal flights limitations apply to only select few countries, follow the link to learn more: https://www.pochta.ru/no-mail-exchange.

2. How does this affect Post Office branches?

The Russian Post continues operating as normal. For opening hours of each specific branch, please follow the link: https://www.pochta.ru/offices. We do inform our social networks communities about important changes to hours of operation. As of now and up until the end of affected period of time, the Post Offices operate five days a week. In every region there is one duty branch that also operates weekends.

3. Self-isolation was introduced in my region. Can I attend the branch?

Yes, in those branches one can purchase food and other most essential goods. Please make sure you keep distance of at least 1.5 metres off each other. However, we do not recommend to use remote services available online and via mobile Android and IOS applications:https://www.pochta.ru/digital-remote-services/.

4. Can my item be delivered home?

You can arrange home delivery for items that require no payment (customs duties or post-pay items (точно не уверен как это перевести)). Weight must not exceed 31.5kg. Letters, small parcels, court and administrative post, and subscription post cannot be delivered home. For signed letters, please follow the link: https://zakaznoe.pochta.ru/.

Delivery can be organised in contactless way. Delivery can be arranged via pochta.ru website or via mobile application by choosing relevant option. If after it was arranged, the delivery status changed to ‘delivered’, ‘redirected’ or “send”???, that would indicate your application is being processed.

Cost of delivery: RUB100 per item.

Delivery time: 1-2 days following the request date.

5. What is contactless delivery?

Safety of our staff and clients is our priority and hence we worked out the contactless delivery.

30-60min prior to arrival, our courier will call you to offer contactless delivery. If you accept this option, they will leave your parcel by your door and will take 1.5-2 m distance.
